HHR Handloom – Crafting Heritage Since 1956

HHR Handloom is a heritage-driven handloom enterprise built on generations of craftsmanship, trust, and commitment to Indian textiles. Our story is not just about fabric—it is about people, skills, and a legacy that has evolved with time while staying true to its roots.

A Legacy That Began in the 1960s

The journey of Ansar Handloom spans two generations and began in the 1956s in the Kanpur textile market. The foundation was laid by my grandfather, Hafiz Mohammad Ismail, a skilled handloom weaver and entrepreneur. He manufactured traditional products such as lungies, gamchas (traditional Indian towels), and towels, weaving them on handlooms and selling them under his own trusted brands—Silsila, Betaab, and Chandni, all synonymous with authentic handwoven fabrics.

Strengthened by the Next Generation

This proud tradition was carried forward by my father, who organized and expanded the business, laying the formal foundation of Ansar Handloom. He played a vital role in training local weavers and skilled handloom artisans in dyeing, designing, and weaving, creating a strong artisan ecosystem rooted in quality and consistency.

Through close collaboration with artisans, Ansar Handloom supplied handwoven products to reputed organizations such as UPICA, Khadi India, UP Handloom, and several export companies. Over the past 38+ years, thousands of satisfied companies, retailers, and buyers have become part of our extended family.

National & International Recognition

Our craftsmanship has gained recognition beyond borders. A merchandiser from Walmart appreciated the quality of our stoles, scarves, and shawls, leading to an order for customized samples in specific colors—an important milestone that reaffirmed our global standards.

In 2018, under the ODOP (One District One Product) scheme, we had the honor of presenting a handwoven gamcha to the Honorable President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow.

In 2019, Ansar Handloom was honored with the Sant Kabir Award by the Uttar Pradesh State Handloom Department. In the same year, Zafar Ahmed received the first GI (Geographical Indication) Tag Certificate, presented by the Honorable Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath at Lok Bhawan, Lucknow—a landmark recognition for our region and craft.

Moving Forward

Today, Ansar Handloom stands as a symbol of authentic Indian handloom, blending heritage craftsmanship with contemporary fashion needs. As we step into the digital and global marketplace, our commitment remains unchanged—to preserve tradition, empower artisans, and deliver handmade products that carry the soul of India to the world.
